Greetings!

On Saturday, February 19th, 2022 is the date for the 2022 SCJFL 2nd Quarter Elementary Tournament, and we hope that your school or organization will be joining us.

We will close entries on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022 at noon, Pacific.  All fees will be frozen at that time.

 

Pattern A: Debate Events

—SPAR

—Congress

—Public Forum (resolved: All public transportation should be free.)

 

Pattern B: Individual Events:

—Storytelling (5 min.)

—Informative (5 min., visual aids are permitted)
—Duo (5 min.)
—Poetry (5 min.; uses a binder)
—Declamation (5 min.)

—Persuasive (5 min.)
—Impromptu (7 min. bank) (open & novice divisions, but may collapse divisions)

 Round 1 - concrete nouns 

 Round 2 - abstract nouns 

 Round 3 - Adjectives 

 Final Round - quotations 

 

 

Students may enter up to two events.  For a complete list of rules, please visit the SCJFL.org website and click on RULES & BY-LAWS.

 

 

Fees: 

$10 per individual entry (Duo is $20)

Judge fee: $75 per uncovered debate slot/$20 per uncovered IE/Congress slot

 One judge covers 5 IE slots; 10 Congress slots; or 2 debate slots.

All changes or drops after Tuesday, February 15th, 2022 at noon, Pacific will be charged a $20 nuisance fee for each change.  Students who drop from the tournament after February 18th at 12:01 a.m. will be charged a $15 no show fee if the coach notifies the tournament before the dropped round.  Students who drop without notifying the tournament will be charged a $25 no show fee.

Judges changes after Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 at 12:00 a.m. Pacific will be charged a $50 judge nuisance fee.  Judge drops after 12:01 a.m. on February 18th, 2022 will be charged a $100 judge no-show fee.  

All fees should be paid through the ForensicsTournament.net website.  Click the TOURNAMENT FEES tab on the left side of the tournament home page.

Judges who do not accept their assigned ballot will be charged a $20 no-show fee for the first offense.  The second offense will be $40.  Each subsequent no-show from the judge will warrant a $50 charge.

The tournament reserves the right to deny schools who do not supply at least half of their required judges.  We will do our best to ensure that no schools are denied because of this reason.

Judging Requirements: 

One judge covers 5 IE slots; 10 Congress slots; or 2 debate slots.

Please remember that judge training is the responsibility of the school entering that judge.  Teams whose judges who turn in blank or insufficient ballots are subject to fines.  Ballot insufficiency shall be determined by the tournament director and/ombudsman.

 

Postings will be texted or e-mailed, depending on your preference.  Please notify your coach which you prefer.
