Welcome to the Pre-Divisional Challenge tournament, hosted by Power High School, Dutton-Brady High School and Simms High School. We are anticipating some well-practiced competition to challenge your students and prepare them for the upcoming divisional tournament the following weekend. We do have space limitations, so we are planning to open only 2 sections of each event. Please limit your students to 3 or fewer per event, register as accurately as possible, and enter your drops as quickly as you know of them to make space available for any teams on our wait list.

Power~Dutton~Brady~Simms Pre-Divisional Challenge

Happy New Year fellow coaches:

Sara, Kelsey, Holly and I are thrilled to host the Power-Dutton-Brady-Simms Pre-Divisional Challenge Speech / Drama / Debate Tournament on Saturday, January 12, 2018.  There should truly be some exceptional competition to prepare your students for the upcoming Divisional contests.

Registration Deadline: Register on Forensicstournament.net which can be accessed at the following link:  https://forensicstournament.net/PDB/19     

Drops only after Wednesday, January 2.

Tournament size will be limited to no more than 2 sections of each speech and drama event, and each event will be closed as it is filled. Please limit your registration to no more than 3 entries per event.

Entry Fees: Entry fees will be $6.00 per student, based on the school entry made on the registration website. 

Check-in will be from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM at Power High School, 402 Teton Avenue, Power, MT.

Venues:  Due to the building size limitations and the co-op nature of our tournament,

Drama events will occur at Dutton Brady High School, 101 2^nd Street NE, Dutton

Debate events will occur at Dutton Brady High School and/or Bethany Lutheran Church, Dutton (1/2 block West of the school) depending on numbers

Speech events will occur at Power High School, 402 Teton Avenue, Power

(Power and Dutton are only 10 miles apart on I-15, and we will provide a coach shuttle between schools.) 

*ALL FINAL ROUNDS & the AWARDS assembly will occur at Power High School.* 

Please leave sufficient space for the vehicles of our volunteer judges by parking buses at a remove from the schools and utilizing the bus lots. 

Rules: The MHSA handbook rules will be enforced for Class A-B-C events.  We will be using the January topics for Extemp and LD.  We will utilize a trained, experienced Extemp proctor who is not a coach.

Tournament Schedule:

ROUND I            8:30 am	Draw  –  8:00 am
ROUND II         10:00 am	Draw  –  9:30 am
ROUND III        11:30 am	Draw – 11:00 am
FINALS               2:00 pm	Draw  -  1:30 am

Debate rounds may be adjusted depending on the number of entries, but we will let you know of any schedule changes as soon as possible.

Meal options and concession items will be available for students at each school.  Hospitality rooms for judges, coaches and drivers will be located at each school.

Students are reminded that they are not permitted to enter the competition rooms until the judge or a coach is present.  Students are guests and should act as such. No tampering with classrooms, computers, or teacher and / or student materials! Students should be silent in the hallways and congregate in the gym common areas only.  Coaches are expected to monitor their students to see that all students are able to compete in a favorable environment.
