Tournaments Invitation

Dear Forensics Community,

We are excited to welcome you to our 2021-2022 Asynchronous tournaments. These tournaments are a great way to include students who may otherwise be unable to attend online tournaments due to slow Internet speeds or schedule conflicts. Competition will be offered in College, High School, Middle School, and Elementary divisions. It’s also a great way to get additional feedback on events as each student will be evaluated by 3 judges (1 judge/prelim) with advancing students evaluated by an additional 3 judges (elims).  Save money with $0 travel costs. Run by experienced tournament directors, these are sure to be some of the best asynchronous tournaments your students ‘attend’ all year.

Our schedule will include three prelims and a final (using Bronze/Silver/Gold award system).  Winners will receive bronze/silver/gold medals.

• Registration & video links are due by Monday by 6pm (pacific) before the tournament on ForensicsTournament.net

• Students will need to compete with the authorization and support of their school or program’s coaching staff.  No independent student entries will be accepted. 

• Each school is required to judge 1 preliminary round and 1 elimination round for every 2 entries. Because this is an asynchronous tournament, one judge may cover more entries than at a synchronous tournament. For example, a school with 10 entries would need to judge five prelims.  These 5 prelims can be judged by a single judge or five different judges. At the discretion of the Tournament Director, uncovered entries may be allowed but penalty fees will apply. 

• NOTE: Students may both compete and judge divisions (if eligible) during the tournament. For example, college students who compete may judge high school and elementary rounds. Contact us if you are interested in being hired as a judge.

• The tournament will require you to upload a URL with your student’s speech.  Unlisted YouTube videos are recommended. The video uploaded for the NOF Asynchronous tournament should be unique to this tournament. Previously recorded versions of the speeches are not allowed. Coaches are responsible for ensuring unique recordings for the tournament. 

• Please see the Best Practices section of this invite for tips on how to effectively prepare for competing asynchronously.

• Limited preparation event (impromptu & extemp) topics will be released 24 hours before the entry deadline (Sunday, 6pm) on the Tournament Home Page. Students should choose one topic from the list and will have 24 hours to record & upload their speech.  

• There will be a single division for all NOF individual events.
