Welcome to the home page for the 2019 Cypress College Invitational tournament hosted by Cypress College on Dec 14-15, 2019 for High School students.

Status: Tournament Completed

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that the invite has been revised to include updated debate times to be more aligned with CHSSA.

Parli prep time is 20 minutes and the speaking times are 7-8-8-8-4-5.

The LD prep time is 4 minutes per debater.  ***We will follow all CHSSA Rules for LD***

The CHSSA times listed in the invite for Public Forum are correct: 4-4-3-4-4-3-2-2-3-2-2.

Additionally, just for clarification, the "Divisions" rule is correct.  If a student did NOT compete last year, they are a NOVICE competitor.  It does not matter if they are competing in a different event or even a "like" event.  So for example, if a student competed in Public Forum last year and they would like to compete in LD this year, they are an OPEN/SENIOR competitor.

Therefore, if a student competed in any event last year they are an OPEN/SENIOR competitor.  In debate, if one partner is an Open/Senior competitor, the team must be entered in Open/Senior.

We hope this clarifies any confusion.

We look forward to seeing you in December!

Jen & Josh
