The Helena schools cordially
invited you to kick off your competition season at the City of Gold Invitational
Speech & Debate Tournament on November 2nd, 2019.
All Events will be held at Helena
High School (1300 Billings Avenue.)
Entry
Deadline: Preliminary registration is due no
later than 4:00pm on Monday, October 21st. All entries must be entered at https://forensicstournament.net/CityOfGold/19.
Changes to registration will be accepted electronically on the website until Friday,
November 2nd at 10:00am. There will be no penalty fee for drops or
changes up to Friday, November 2nd at 10:00am. Any changes after this
deadline must be submitted by email to jkhermanson@gmail.com.
Any changes on Saturday, November 2nd must be submitted by phone or text to Jennifer
Hermanson at 406-531-7449.
Fees: Each entry will be charged $5.00. Any changes to your registration on Friday, November 1st at 10am will be assessed a $5.00 penalty; Any changes on Saturday, November 2nd will be assessed a $20.00 penalty.
Entries: Schools
may enter up to 4 entries in each event. As Policy is collapsed to one division, schools may have up to 8 in Policy. LD is currently split between Novice and Varsity however divisions in LD will also be collapsed if either division has less then 10 competitors.

and let us know which of your coaches will be attending the Speech Tournament
and their tabbing preferences. Please also nominate at least one coach to serve
in extemp draw.
There
will be NO Concessions. You are responsible for snacks
and meals for your students. There will be a hospitality room provided for
coaches and drivers.
Student area: At
the request of Administration, we must require all students to utilize the
cafeteria as the student area. We will not allow hallways, stairwells, or other
spaces to be used as lounge areas. Please be respectful of this and ask your
students to use the cafeteria between rounds.
Legislative
Debate Topics: Foreign:
Stateless Peoples, Domestic: Disaster Relief
Rules: All events will be conducted according to the rules of the 2019-2020 MHSA Handbook.
Spontaneous Oral Interpretation: We will host SPOI at this tournament. AA schools may enter competitors in SPOI and SPOI WILL count toward School Sweepstakes points with the same points allocated as other IE events.
Drama: We are offering Drama events for ABC schools. We will not hold events with less than 3 entries. There will be NO Sweepstakes awards for Drama.
