2/25/2023 Information about Sunday 11:30 Awards

Awards on Sunday at 11:30am will be in F-203.  It is a smaller space where we unfortunately will not be able to fit all of the folks that we have here this weekend (our theatre will be in use for a children’s show at that time).  We will broadcast awards live via the following MS Teams link: Join 2023 BPCC Awards (Microsoft Teams Meeting)  While we of course want as many of you as can attend to be a part of the live ceremony (including all of those who will be receiving awards), please feel free to log in to this meeting as an “overflow” for the awards ceremony.

2/21/2023 Pre-Tournament Update

Thank you for your entry to the 15th annual Eddy Shell Invitational.

If you have any ADA concerns that were not listed in FTN please email balexander@bpcc.edu ASAP so that we may provide accommodations.

During preliminary rounds we will be offering your choice of electronic or paper ballots – please ensure that your judges’ preferences are set to “paper,” “email,” or “text” according to their preference.  During elimination rounds, all ballots will be paper ballots (please ensure judges who have requested electronic ballots during preliminary rounds are checking the ballot table during elimination rounds).

Registration will be in the first-floor lobby of building F.  Throughout the tournament, ballot table and the majority of prep spaces will be in building F (for those who are returning, this is the same building where we’ve been in the past; if you’re new to the tournament a campus map is available at https://tinyurl.com/yckvbfx4); some additional prep spaces will be located in a neighboring building.  Parking on Friday will be tight, but you may park in any available faculty or student space (no reserved or handicapped spaces); if there are no spaces next to building F – there are typically numerous spaces available south of buildings D & E (see map).  On Saturday/Sunday, there should be ample parking adjacent to building F.

As for food options on campus: on Friday, the Subway in our main prep building will be open early in the day, and on Saturday we’ll be providing free pizza at 1:30.  Also, Emilie’s Café will be set up throughout the weekend in building F near the tabroom (for those who are not familiar, snacks and drinks are available in exchange for a donation to fight childhood cancer). Multiple vending machines are also available on the first floor of building F.

Non Smoking Campus: Please note that our campus is a nonsmoking campus.  Our police department has noted that they will be ticketing violators this weekend.  If you are a smoker you must do so either 1) in your vehicle or 2) beyond the perimeter of the campus (ask at registration and I’ll point you to the nearest area).

Postings will be available online at: https://forensicstournament.net/BPCC/23

Coaches’ Check: TIPDA coaches’ check will in F-203 (early coaches’ check will be during round 4 of team debate in F-203).  IPDA coaches’ check will be fully online (prelim results sheets will be available on FTN in real time beginning in round 7 for early review, complete ballot packs through round 6 will be emailed to coaches as soon as they are assembled during round 7, and round 7 ballots will be sent ASAP Saturday evening.

Thank you for your participation, please travel safely, and we look forward to seeing you all this weekend.

10/11/2022 Initial Welcome Message:

Welcome to the 15th Annual Eddy Shell Invitational.   Any pre-tournament updates will be added here.

Please note: for judges during preliminary rounds we will be offering the choice of eballots or paper ballots.  As you enter your judges, please be sure each has their preference set for eballot or paper ballot.  During elimination rounds, all ballots will be paper ballots.

Packets will be fully electronic (paper ballots will be scanned, sorted, and merged with eballots).  Team debate will have a traditional in-person ballot review (for sake of expediency) on Friday; Individual Debate will have an electronic coaches review overnight on Saturday night (coaches will be emailed the full prelim electronic packet and results sheets for their squad).
