Sidney High School cordially
invites you to the Sidney Speech, Drama and Debate Tournament on Saturday,
January 5th, 2019.
REGISTRATION:
Registration will be at Sidney
High School Library between 7:15- 7:45 AM. An entry fee of $5.00 will be charged
for each participant. Registration must be completed on forensicstournament.net
by Monday, December 21, 2018.
Each school may enter up to three
entries in each event. A drop fee of $5.00 will be assessed for each contestant
dropped after 4:00 pm on Thursday, January 3, 2019. If you have drops, please
call Gail at (406) 489-0947 or email them to her at gailamiller@hotmail.com.
MHSA Rules:
All events will be conducted in
accordance to the MHSA Handbook with the FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS:
- Coaches may be asked to judge.
- Policy debate ballots will be the
“old” ballots rather than the NFL ballots.
- Dual entry will not be allowed, as
this may be a large meet.
Topics: We will be using the January/February topics for LD
and Public Forum.
Policy Topic will be: “Resolved: The United
States federal government should substantial reduce its restrictions on legal
immigration to the United States.
The January extemp questions will be used.
LUNCH:
Lunch will be available for
students at Sidney High School for $6.00. Lunch will be served from 11:30 to
1:30 in the cafeteria. The menu: taco in
a bag, fruit snacks, cookie and a drink. School purchase orders will be
accepted at registration and tickets will be issued. For schools that do not
provide meals for their students, students will be able to purchase lunch.
Please include an estimated number of students who wish to pay cash for lunch
on your registration form. Lunch will be
provided in the hospitality room for judges, coaches and drivers.
COMPETITION SITE:
Speech events will be held at
Sidney High School, and Drama events will be held at the Junior High. All finals will be held at Sidney High
School. The gym will be the
commons area for contestants in both the high school and the Jr. High. Students should be in the commons area when
not in rounds. At the end of the tournament, please ask you students to pick up
their area. The awards assembly will be in the High School Gym at approximately
5:00 pm.
COMPETITION:
There will be four preliminary
rounds, semis and finals in all. The schedule for the day is:

Policy Debate will be a round-robin of four rounds. Final
placement will be determined by win/loss record and points.
Awards Assembly will
be at 5:00
Extemp Draw will be
in Room 402 at the High School.
AWARDS: Sweepstakes
trophies will be awarded for first in Speech and in Drama in A, B & C
classes. Medals and ribbons will be
presented to individual finalists.
