2019 SCJFL 4th Quarter Elementary Speech & Debate Tournament

Greetings to all elementary school speech and debate clubs and schools! On Saturday, May 11th 2th, 2019. Roosevelt Elementary School will be hosting the 4th elementary speech tournament of the 2018-2019 school year. We hope your school or organization will be joining us.

We will close entries on Tues. May 7th at noon, PST.

Events:

Stanford SPAR (Format: 2 prep, 2-2-4-2-2)

● Novice SPAR (any competitor who has not made an elimination round)

Congress (Bills will be posted April 27th)

Public Forum (Topic: "On-balance, replacing humans with robots does more harm than good.")

Storytelling (5 mins.)

Poetry (5 mins. – no binder)


Expository (formerly called Informative, 5 mins–no Visual Aids)

Impromptu (7 minute bank)

Original Interp (5 mins.)

Original Duo (6 mins.)

DUO (6 mins.)

Judging Requirements: Each participating school or organization is being asked to supply 1 judge per 5 entries. Judging names should be submitted at the time of registration. If you need to register judges but don’t know their names yet, please use your school name with a number to indicate the judges you will be providing (i.e. Wilshire judge 1; Wilshire judge 2; etc.). $8 per entries not covered.

Food: There will be food & snacks sold on campus during the tournament. Fees: $10 per individual entry (Duo is $20). Please make checks out to SGUSD.

Registration: Upon arrival, please look for signs to the library which will be used for the Judge’s Room. Please register your team and judges.

Parking: Parking will be available on campus. There is a parking lot in front of the school, and additional parking available on the grass area on campus. There will be signs directing cars to the additional parking.

Postings will be on the in the courtyard of the school.
