RE: LAUREL INVITATIONAL SPEECH, DRAMA, AND DEBATE TOURNAMENT

Laurel High School cordially invites you to the Laurel High School Speech, Drama and Debate Tournament on Saturday, December 15, 2018. All events will be held at Laurel High School (203 E. 8th St, Laurel MT 59044)

REGISTRATION:

Registration will be at the Laurel High School main office between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM. An entry fee of $5.00 will be charged for each participant. Registration will take place on ForensicsTournament.net: https://forensicstournament.net/locomotiveinvite/18 Registration will close on Monday December 11th at 4:00pm.

Each school may enter up to three entries in each event. A drop fee of $5.00 will be assessed for each contestant dropped after 4:00pm on Friday Dec 14th. If you have drops, please call Liz at 406-546-4798 or email them to her at Liz_Schwartz@laurel.k12.mt.us  as soon as possible.

MHSA Rules:

ALL MHSA rules will be enforced at this tournament.

FOOD:  

Concessions will be available at the high school. There are also several fast food places close to the school. Lunch will be provided in the hospitality room for judges, coaches and drivers.

COMPETITION SITE:

All rounds will be held at Laurel High School. There will be a commons area for students.Students should be in the designated commons area when not in rounds. Remember contestants may not be in competition rooms unless a judge or coach is present. At the end of the tournament, please ask your students to pick up their area. The awards assembly will be in the high school auditorium at approximately 5:00 pm.  

COMPETITION:

There will be three preliminary rounds and finals in all. The schedule for the day is:

Awards Assembly will be at 5:00

Extemp Draw will be in Room 128 at Laurel High School

All events will be conducted in accordance to the MHSA Handbook.

LD topic will be the December topic:

LD: Resolved: In a democracy, the public’s right to know ought to be valued above the right to privacy of candidates for public office.

Public Forum: Resolved: The United States federal government should impose price controls on the pharmaceutical industry.
