<p>The first SCJFL league debate tournament will take place at La Reina High School,&nbsp;106 W Janss Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360, on November 9th.</p> <p>***UPDATE 10/8/13 - this tournament will be flighted. &nbsp;The schedule and additional information will be posted/sent out sometime this week.</p> <p>Policy Topic: &nbsp;Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its economic engagement toward Cuba, Mexico or Venezuela.</p> <p>Public Forum Topic: &nbsp;Unilateral military force by the United States is justified to prevent nuclear proliferation.</p> <p>LD Topic: &nbsp;Resolved: In a democracy, voting ought to be compulsory.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Rounds may have to be flighted for some events, depending on entries. &nbsp;We&#39;re hoping to get in 5 or 6 rounds of PF and LD, if flighting is unnecessary. &nbsp;If flighting is required, we may only be able to run 5 rounds. &nbsp;Policy will have three prelims and an outround, time permitting.</p> <p>La Reina parents/boosters will sell food at the tournament. &nbsp;Probably it will be like pizza and hot dogs and such.</p> <p>The current schedule has rounds beginning at 8AM, and awards beginning no later than 6PM.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Note: &nbsp;You must be a member of SCJFL to participate in this tournament. &nbsp;Schools that have not paid league dues by Nov. 9th will have their entries dropped. &nbsp;Please contact tournament admin if you have any questions.</strong></p> <p><strong>Note 2: &nbsp;There is a $100 fee for every uncovered judge. &nbsp;Schools are required to bring<del> 1 judge for every 2 entries if the event is unflighted</del>, 1 judge for every 4 entries. &nbsp;It is flighted.</strong></p>
