51st ANNUAL

TRAPPER RENDEZVOUS FORENSIC TOURNAMENT

Dear Colleague:

The Northwest College Forensics Program and the Charlotte Patrick Speech and Debate Society extends to you a cordial invitation to attend the 51st ANNUAL TRAPPER RENDEZVOUS FORENSICS TOURNAMENT to be held in Powell, Wyoming, on September 25-26, 2020. This is a different date than in the past, and we hope that this new date will allow more of you to attend. Our goal is to provide good competition at a reasonable price and in a reasonable amount of time.

Please note that this year we will be using Forensicstournament.net for administration of the tournament. This program uses 8x8 video interface for competition. Additionally, please note that NWC operates a closed tab room.

If you want more information about judging online using 8x8 and Forensicstournament.net, please see the following video. The video should start at 12:20, but if it doesn’t you can skip ahead. At 12:20, the video starts explaining how the process works from the judging perspective.

The 2020 Rendezvous will feature: 6 preliminary and 2-4 elimination rounds (depending on entries) in two divisions of parliamentary debate, five rounds of Worlds style debate, and one division of IPDA. PLEASE NOTE: Students will not be able to enter both IPDA and Parliamentary Debate. Should the need arise (if there are less than 2 novice teams) we reserve the right to collapse divisions in parliamentary debate, but our intention is to have novice competitors only debate other novice competitors. In addition, the Rendezvous will feature two preliminary rounds and two elimination rounds in one open division for eleven individual events. Please note the schedule change for Friday afternoon. All individual events will follow NIET rules and format.

This invitation includes a copy of the regulations, a schedule of events, and contact information. The tournament entry should be received no later than Tuesday, September 22. Entries will be facilitated by the Forensicstournament.net website.

We look forward to hosting you and your squad.

Cordially,
