<p> Welcome to the third annual UW Tacoma speech tournament.&nbsp; Last year the weather forced us to a different weekend, but we are expecting clear skies in 2013.&nbsp; We are a NIETOC bid in oratory, DI, HI, and Duo and are expecting huge numbers so it would not be surprising to see all finalists qualify.&nbsp; Additionally, this is the final district 3 state qualifier in individual events.&nbsp; This is a tremendous campus with many food options and a generous schedule that gets you home for dinner!</p> <p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"> <span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><u><span style=\"font-family: ;\"><font color=\"#000000\">Introducing SPIN!!!</font></span></u></b></span><b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\"><u><span style=\"font-family: ;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><o:p></o:p></font></span></u></b></p> <p> <span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-family: ;\"><font color=\"#000000\">Spar has been so successful we thought we&rsquo;d introduce spontaneous interpretation.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; </span>Participants will be paired up randomly within a round (likely with someone from a different school).<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; </span>They will then be given a duo script, parts preselected, and sent outside for 5 minutes.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; </span>They will then return to the room, deliver the interpretation spontaneously, and ranked individually.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; </span>Contestants will be judged on their ability to deliver an interpretation on the fly.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; </span>All qualities that are rewarded in normal interpretation events will be rewarded in spin (voice, assumption, characterization, etc).</font></span></span><span style=\"font-family: ;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><o:p></o:p></font></span></p> <p> <span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"> <span style=\"font-family: ;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"mso-tab-count: 1;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span><o:p></o:p></font></span></p>
