Greetings All! You are cordially invited to attend the 6th annual Panthers Invitational Tournament at Snohomish High School.  This year you are in for a treat.  After four years and 49 million dollars of renovation and rebuilding, we are nearly done with construction and you are going to have a tournament in a brand-new, state-of-the-art school which would rivals small colleges.  It’s pretty cool stuff, and we love it.  We have some changes and some carryovers that we think you’ll like.  Judging quotas are lower this year, the tournament is shorter, the trophies are just as big, and the prices haven't changed.  I hope this makes for a great turnout, and I hope you are as excited as I am for this season. <o:p></o:p>  Some basic items before you register: 1) Patterns essentially don't mean anything in this registration.  I used them simply to set judging quotas, which are 1 per six IEs (pattern A), one per four LD and PF (pattern B), one per two CX (pattern C), and one per ten entries for congress (pattern D). 2)  While I have set a fee for unvovered judges and I have a few hireds standing by, don't assume you can show up without one and get a hire.  We may well have to cut your uncovered entries if we run out of judges!  I have set the ratios much higher than many tournaments do in the hopes that coaches will do the right thing and honor their committments. Please show up with judges on time, and please make sure they are picking up ballots. 3) Use the remarks section to indicate special info, such as a student judge who should oly judge novice or a congress scorer who can also parli.  4) Full rules are on the link provided to the invitation. 5) New coaches, I am here to help you, so don't hesitate to call or e-mail me!  The best time to call is in the evening at (425) 512-0779.  My cell for problems the days of the tournament is (206) 595-5634.  The best e-mail to use is Nicolaybill@gmail .com <o:p></o:p> Last year we had a few problems on the site getting you credit for judges who were working both speech and debate.  I think I have that problem solved, tech idiot that I am, but if you notice any errors, let me know right away and I'll get them fixed. <o:p></o:p>              In addition, we will have a T-shirt vendor at the tournament to custom-make debate T-shirts for your competitors on the spot at a nominal cost.  If you can let your competitors know, and if they bring $10 or $15, they can get a slogan they want on any color.  My favorite slogans so far:          <o:p></o:p>   <o:p></o:p> "Forensics:  Not just for dead people . . . ."<o:p></o:p> "In God we trust, all other we cross-examine"<o:p></o:p> "Speech and Debate: I talk to walls . . . ."<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> Speech and debate is a tremendous learning and teaching tool, but it should also be fun!  We strive for a balance of both, and I hope all of you can be here to see our best effort at achieving that balance.  Best regards to all of you who do so much for so many for so little, and best wishes for a great season!<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> Bill Nicolay<o:p></o:p> Program Advisor, Speech and Debate<o:p></o:p> Snohomish High School<o:p></o:p>
