San Diego/Imperial Valley Speech League<o:p></o:p> <h3> WINTER DEBATE TOURNAMENT ENTRY</h3> <h3> <o:p></o:p></h3> This tournament is open only to schools in the San Diego Imperial Valley Speech League.  Where: Helix Charter High School  Directions:  I-8 to the 70th St/Lake Murray Blvd exit. Turn right off the exit, but stay in the left lane. Turn left on 70th St. Turn left on University.  Turn right on Lowell, then immediately right on Highlander Way. At the stop sign, turn left into the parking lot. Additional parking and bus parking is available in the student lot – pass Highlander Way, then pass tennis courts, baseball fields and basketball courts. Turn right into the student parking lot. When:  Friday, January 28 and Saturday, January 29, 2011 Events: Policy Debate, LD Debate, Parliamentary Debate, Public Forum Debate Topics: <o:p></o:p> Policy – Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce its military and/or police presence in one or more of the following: South Korea, Japan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, Turkey.<o:p></o:p> LD – Resolved: In the United States, juveniles charged with violent felonies ought to be treated as adults in the criminal justice system.<o:p></o:p> Public Forum – Resolved: In the United States, plea bargaining undermines the criminal justice system.<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> Entry Limitations: This tournament is open only to schools in the San Diego Imperial Valley Speech League. Each competitor may enter up to two events, with a maximum of one each day.  Judges: Each school should bring 1 judge for every two debate teams and 1 judge for every 4 LD debaters.  Schools with not enough judges attending will not compete. Entry Fees: $20.00 per team in Policy, Parliamentary and Public Forum Debate and $10.00 per LD entry<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> Entry Deadline: Entries must be posted on www.forensicstournament.net by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24. No new teams or students may add after the entry deadline.    The only changes allowed after the entry deadline is dropping entries (see below).<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> Drops: Dropped entries will be accepted without charge until Wednesday, January 26, at 3:30 p.m. After that time, the website will be closed and entry fees will be final.
