<p><strong>Events:</strong> </p>
<p><strong> Pattern A: </strong>Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Policy Debate</p>
<p><strong>Topics:</strong> </p>
<p><strong>Lincoln-Douglas</strong><em> – January/February topic. </em>Resolved: Just governments ought to require that employers pay a living wage.</p>
<p><strong>Policy </strong><em>- </em>Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its non-military exploration and/or development of the Earth's oceans.</p>
<p><em><strong>Entry Limitations:</strong> </em>This tournament is open only to schools in the San Diego Imperial Valley Speech League. Each competitor may enter one event. All competitors will compete in all rounds. (Exception - Round 5 of LD may be limited to undefeated and one-loss debaters.)</p>
<p><strong>Judges:</strong> Each school is required to bring 1 judge for every four competitors, or part thereof. Schools not meeting their judging commitment at all times during the tournament will be required to drop uncovered entries. Required number of judges must be present throughout the entire tournament. <a href=\"http://www.forensicstournament.net/SDIVSLDebate3/14/blog/\">Click here</a> for instructions regarding entering judges.<br />
<br />
<strong>Entry Fees:</strong> $12 per Policy team; $6 per LD entry. Make checks payable to SDIVSL.<br />
<br />
<strong>Entry Deadline:</strong> Entries must be posted on www.forensicstournament.net by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12. No new teams or students may add after the entry deadline. The only changes allowed after the entry deadline is dropping entries (see below).<br />
<br />
<strong>Drops:</strong> Dropped entries will be accepted without charge until Wednesday, January 14, at 5:00 p.m. After that time, the website will be closed and entry fees will be final. Please email (lily.bolig@sduhsd.net) or call in/text (<a href=\"tel:%28760.807-4482\" target=\"_blank\">760.807-4482</a>) your drops after the drop deadline, even as late as on your way to the tournament, to obviate excessive changes at the beginning of the tournament. When calling in or emailing drops, be sure to give the speaker’s name, event, and your school clearly.</p>
<p><strong>Awards: </strong>Awards will be given to places 1-8 in each division of each debate event. Sweepstakes points will be awarded to each school for each of their debate teams/competitors finishing in the top eight based on the points system used by CHSSA. The teams earning the most sweepstakes points will receive team awards (number of trophies awarded is dependent upon number of teams entered). <br />
