<p> &nbsp;</p> <p> San Diego/Imperial Valley Speech League<br /> <br /> <span style=\"font-size: 14px; \"><strong>IE/CONGRESS 2 TOURNAMENT ENTRY</strong></span><br /> <br /> This tournament is open only to schools in the San Diego Imperial Valley Speech League<br /> <br /> <strong>Tournament Director:</strong>&nbsp;Don Etheridge, VP of IEs, Mission Vista High School (<a href=\"mailto:detherid@vusd.k12.ca.us?subject=IE%2FCongress%202\">click here to&nbsp;</a><a href=\"mailto:detherid@vusd.k12.ca.us?subject=IE%2FCongress%202\">email</a>)<br /> <br /> <strong>Directions to El Camino High School, 400 Rancho Del Oro Drive, Oceanside, CA 92057:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <p> <b>From 5 North</b>: Take exit 54A to merge onto CA-76 E/San Luis Rey Mission Expy. After 4.4 miles, turn right onto Rancho Del Oro Dr. After 0.8 miles, make aU-turn at Oregano Way. School will be on the right.&nbsp;</p> <p> <b>From 15 North: </b>Take exit 32 to merge onto CA-78 W. After 15.2 miles, take exit 2 for El Camino Real and turn right onto El Camino Real. After 1.9 miles, turn right onto Mesa Dr. After 1 mile, turn left onto Rancho Del Oro Dr. School will be on the right.</p> <p> There are two lots (upper and lower). Either are available for parking. Tab and judges will be located in the library, which is the round building in the middle of the upper campus.<br /> <br /> <strong>Events:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Pattern A:</strong>&nbsp;IX, OO, OA, HI, TI, and Duo<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<strong>Pattern B:</strong>&nbsp;NX, Imp, Expos, DI, OI, OPP, Congress<br /> <br /> &nbsp;<br /> <strong>Entry Limitations:</strong>&nbsp;This tournament is open only to schools in the San Diego Imperial Valley Speech League. This tournament will feature a Novice division and a Varsity division in all events. A Novice competitor must have never competed in any high school speech or debate tournament in previous school years.</p> <p> Students must compete in the same division for all events (cannot compete as a Novice in one event, and Varsity in another). Exception: If a Duo team is &quot;mixed&quot; (one Novice, one Varsity), that pair must compete at the Varsity level. However, the Novice partner may compete as a Novice in other events.</p> <p> <span>Each competitor may enter up to four events, with a maximum of two in any pattern.&nbsp; Students entered in Extemp or Congress may enter only that event in that pattern. Schools with students competing in Congress must have submitted a minimum of three (3) Congress bills as of Debate 1 (Sept 15, 2012).</span>&nbsp;(First-year teams are exempt from this requirement.)</p> <p> <strong>Judges:&nbsp;</strong>Each school should bring 1 judge per 6 entries (or part thereof). Schools not meeting their judging commitment will be required to drop entries to match their available judges. Required number of judges must be present throughout the entire tournament. Click <a href=\"http://forensicstournament.net/SDIVSLIECONGRESS2/12/blog/\">here</a>&nbsp;for instructions regarding entering judges.<br /> <br /> <strong>Entry Fees:</strong>&nbsp;$8 per I.E. entry, $16 for duo. Make checks payable to SDIVSL. Fees are due at registration.<br /> <br /> <strong>Entry Deadline:</strong>&nbsp;Entries must be posted on www.forensicstournament.net by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5. No new teams or students may add after the entry deadline. The only changes allowed after the entry deadline is dropping entries (see below).<br /> <br /> <strong>Drops:</strong>&nbsp;Dropped entries will be accepted without charge until Wednesday, November 7, at 5:00 p.m. After that time, the website will be closed and entry fees will be final. Please <a href=\"mailto:detherid@vusd.k12.ca.us?subject=Drops\">email</a> or call in (619-200-7439) your drops after the drop deadline, even as late as on your way to the tournament, to obviate excessive changes at the beginning of the tournament. When calling in or emailing drops, be sure to give the speaker&rsquo;s name, event, and your school clearly.&nbsp;<br /> <strong><br /> Novice Observers:</strong>&nbsp;If Novice competitors are not prepared to compete, coaches are encouraged to bring them to this tournament to observe so they can learn the mechanics and etiquette of tournament competition.
