Each student may enter only one (1) event for this weekend. This tournament is operated on a double-elimination format. We will continue to whittle away until we arrive at the top four (4) in LD and the top six (6) policy teams. Please enter students in order of rank on the entry form for seeding purposes.  Be sure not to exceed any individual or school entry limits: No student may enter more than four (4) events total throughout the 3 weekends.<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> 2011 January/February LD Topic Resolved: In the United States, juveniles charged with violent felonies ought to be treated as adults in the criminal justice system.<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> 2010-2011 Policy Topic: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce its military and/or police presence in one or more of the following: South Korea, Japan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, Turkey.<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> Fees: Each LD entry in the tournament is $10.00. Each team entry is $20. A one-time school fee of $25 is required to <o:p></o:p> enter any of the three qualifying tournaments. Make checks payable to SDIVSL.<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> Judges: Each school is required to bring one judge for every four L.D. debaters, and one judge for every 2 Teams.  <o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> Entry/Drop Deadlines: Entries for the debate tournament must be posted to www.forensicstournament.net no later than 3:30 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011.  Coaches must also send via e-mail a list of their debaters in rank order, most successful debaters first. Entries in all events are final and payable at that time. Entry fees for all of the qualifying tournaments are due at this tournament.                                                                          <o:p></o:p> League Meeting/Manuscript Reading: Beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, we will have a league meeting and read I.E. manuscripts for compliance with CHSSA guidelines. If there are enough people present earlier than 11 a.m., we’ll actually start the reading sooner. All league coaches need to attend the meeting and help in the reading of manuscripts. Fees are due at<o:p></o:p> 2:30                  Additional rounds as necessary       this time.<o:p></o:p>  Note: Because of the double-elimination format of this tournament, it is very difficult to predict when this tournament will end. The two-day schedule is an attempt to help us end a little earlier. Please ask your students (and their parents!) to be aware of this and to be flexible.    Sign-Off Meeting: After the awards ceremony following IE Quals (Saturday, March 5), all coaches must return to the tab room to sign off any students who have qualified for the State Tournament. All coaches need to attend this meeting even if you don’t have a student that is qualified outright. Each year, students who haven’t qualified outright shift up into a qualifying position because of other students’ shifting out of the event, since a student may only enter one individual event at the State Tournament. If the coach is not at the meeting to confirm a student’s attendance at the State Tournament, the students may be bypassed and excluded from State qualification.<o:p></o:p> Note: If you sign a “No” on a student, that student MAY NOT later be added into that event if some problem arises with his or her participation in another event, such as Team Debate or Duo.  If a student does not qualify outright in any event you still may only sign yes in one event.<o:p></o:p> You must come to this meeting!<o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p>
