School will be on your left (across from the Home Depot). <o:p>     From the 15: Go north. Take the 76 west. School will be on your right.</o:p><o:p></o:p> DO NOT USE MAPQUEST - YOU WILL GET LOST. If you use any other mapping technology, it's better to search the school name, rather than the street address for the school. Events: Policy Debate, LD Debate, Parliamentary Debate, Public Forum Debate Topics:       Policy – Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its transportation infrastructure investment in the United States.       LD – Resolved: The United States ought to extend to non-citizens accused of terrorism the same constitutional due process protections it grants to citizens.       Public Forum – Resolved: Congress should renew the Federal Assault Weapons Ban.      Parliamentary - schools competing in Parli must submit 3 resolutions for consideration; 1 fact, 1 value, and 1 policy. (First year teams are exempt from this requirement)   Entry Limitations: This tournament is open only to schools in the San Diego Imperial Valley Speech League. This tournament will feature a Novice division and a Varsity division in all events. Each competitor may enter one event.           In order to be eligible for the Novice division, debaters must meet the following criteria:           Public Forum - must not have competed in any high school speech or debate tournament in previous school years           Parliamentary - must not have competed in any high school speech or debate tournament in previous school years.           Policy - must not have competed in any high school debate tournament in previous school years (speech or congress participation ok)           Lincoln-Douglas - must not have competed in any high school debate tournament in previous school years (speech or congress participation ok)           In cases where partners are "mixed" (one Novice, one Varsity), that pair must compete at the Varsity level. Judges: Each school is required to bring 1 judge for every two debate teams, and 1 judge for every 4 LD debaters. Schools not meeting their judging commitment at all times during the tournament will be required to drop uncovered entries. Required number of judges must be present throughout the entire tournament. Entry Fees: $16 per team in Policy, Parliamentary, and Public Forum Debate; $8 per LD entry Entry Deadline: Entries must be posted on www.forensicstournament.net by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10. No new teams or students may add after the entry deadline. The only changes allowed after the entry deadline is dropping entries (see below). Drops: Dropped entries will be accepted without charge until Wednesday, September 12, at 3:30 p.m. After that time, the website will be closed and entry fees will be final. Please email (melissa.barry@sduhsd.net) or call in/text (760-936-3796) your drops after the drop deadline, even as late as on your way to the tournament, to obviate excessive changes at the beginning of the tournament. When calling in or emailing drops, be sure to give the speaker’s name, event, and your school clearly. Novice Observers: Coaches are encouraged to bring Novice observers to this tournament if they are not prepared to compete, so they can learn the mechanics and etiquette of tournament competition.
