2020 SCJFL 2nd Quarter Elementary Speech & Debate Tournament

Greetings to all elementary school speech and debate clubs and schools! On Saturday, December 5th, 2020, we will be hosting the second elementary speech tournament of the 2020-2021 school year virtually. We hope your school or organization will join us!

Entries:

All current SCJFL Elementary programs are invited to register.

Judging Requirements & Uncovered Judge Fees:

For Speech/SPAR/Congress, each participating school or organization must supply 1 judge per 5 entries.  For Public Forum, each participating school or organization must supply 1 judge per 2 entries.  If you need to register judges but don’t know their names yet, please use your school name with a number to indicate the judges you will be providing (i.e. Wilshire judge 1; Wilshire judge 2; etc.) If your team is using place holders please be sure to update them to the actual name of the judge prior to the sign-up deadline. IMPORTANT: All Judges must indicate whether they are available for the debate pattern, the speech pattern, or both. Covered judge means all rounds in that event, if a judge can only judge one round than that is only a portion of the required coverage....all rounds must be covered, meaning all judges in that event can not just sign up for round 2.

As per the new by-laws, all judge training is the responsibility of the school submitting their judges. We can still offer a brief refresher course but all judges should be expected to already know what they’re in for.  Teams who supply grossly unprepared judges will be charged a nuisance fee of $50.

The fee for an uncovered judge is $20 and the fee for a judge being absent the day of the tournament is $100.

Fees & Payment Information:

$10 per individual entry (Duo and Public Forum is $20).

Please note that payment for this tournament must be made through the TOURNAMENT FEES tab on the left side of the registration page. The tournament will not accept checks or payments through Venmo or Zelle.

Changes or drops after Tues. December 1st, 2020 at 12pm PST will be charged a $10 nuisance fee per change or drop.

League Fees:

Teams will need to pay league fees, give proof of insurance, and signed up a tab staff volunteer for future tournaments or they will not be eligible for this tournament.  Please contact league treasurer Stella Gu to bring your account current: sguus68@gmail.com.
