2021 SCJFL 2nd Quarter Speech Only Tournament

 

Greetings!

On Saturday, December 11th, 2021 the SCJFL will be hosting the 2nd Quarter Speech Only Tournament, and we hope that your school or organization will be joining us.

We will close entries on Tuesday. December 7th at noon, PST.

 

Events:

—Storytelling (5 min.)
—SPAR (open & novice divisions, but may collapse divisions) 

—Informative (10 min., visual aids are permitted)
—Duo (10 min.)
—Poetry (7 min.; uses a binder)
—Speech to Entertain (5 min., visual aids are permitted)
—Dramatic Interp (10 min.)
—Extemp (30 min. prep/7 min. speech)(topic areas: domestic, Europe, Africa, US economy)
—Program Oral Interp (10 min.)
—Impromptu (7 min. bank) (open & novice divisions, but may collapse divisions)

Round 1 - concrete nouns 

Round 2 - abstract nouns 

Round 3 - Adjectives 

Final Round - quotations

Fees: 

$10 per individual entry (Duo is $20)

One judge covers 5 slots.

All changes or drops after Tuesday, December 7th, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. PST will be charged a $10 nuisance fee for each change.  Students who drop from the tournament after December 10th at 12:01 a.m. will be charged a $15 sho show fee if the coach notifies the tournament before the dropped round.  Students who drop without notifying the tournament will be charged a $25 no show fee.

Judges changes after Wednesday, December 8th at 12:00 a.m. PST will be charged a $50 judge nuisance fee.  Judge drops after 12:01 a.m. on December 10th, 2021 will be charged a $100 judge no-show fee.  

All fees should be paid through the ForensicsTournament.net website.  Click the TOURNAMENT FEES tab on the left side of the tournament home page.

Judges who do not accept their assigned ballot will be charged a $20 no-show fee for the first offense.  The second offense will be $40.  Each subsequent no-show from the judge will warrant a $50 charge.

The tournament reserves the right to deny schools who do not supply at least half of their required judges.  We will do our best to ensure that no schools are denied because of this reason.

 

 

Judging Requirements: 

One judge covers 5 slots.

Please remember that judge training is the responsibility of the school entering that judge.  Teams whose judges who turn in blank or insufficient ballots are subject to fines.  Ballot insufficiency shall be determined by the tournament director and/ombudsman.

10:30 – Round 2

12:00 – Round 3

2:00 –  Finals

4:00 – Awards
