Greetings!

On Saturday, October 26th, 2019 East Los Angeles College will be hosting the 2019 SCJFL 1st Quarter Debate Only Tournament, and we hope that your school or organization will be joining us.

We will close entries on Tues. Oct. 22nd at noon, PST.


Events:


Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Resolved: In the United States, colleges and universities ought not consider standardized tests in undergraduate admissions decisions.


Policy Debate: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce Direct Commercial Sales and/or Foreign Military Sales of arms from the United States.


Public Forum Debate: Resolved: The European Union should join the Belt and Road Initiative.


Congress - Please submit bills to Robert@CannonballofDeath.com by Sept. 21st, 2019.


Resolved: Objective morality exists.


Fees: 

$10 per student entry (Public Forum & Policy are $20)

Please make checks payable to "East Los Angeles College". 

Changes or drops after Wednesday October 23, 2019 at 6pm will be charged a $10 nuisance fee.

$50 uncovered judge fee (see below).


Judging Requirements: 

Each participating school or organization is being asked to supply 1 judge per 2 entries. Judging names and cell phone numbers should be submitted at the time of registration. If you need to register judges but don’t know their names yet, please use your school name with a number to indicate the judges you will be providing (i.e. Wilshire judge 1; Wilshire judge 2; etc.). $50 uncovered judge fee. 



League Fees: 

For schools that have not already paid their league fees, payments must be made to and are due the day of the tournament. The fees are as follows: $200 for schools that only compete at the elementary level; $300 for schools that only compete at the middle school level; and $400 for schools that compete at the elementary and middle school level. Fees are payable on or before the first competition of the year for that team.  Any additional tournament fees should be paid separately to the host school. Per the bylaws, all schools must send one representative to volunteer at one of the upcoming SCJFL tournaments. Schools that do not pay their league fees or sign up to volunteer will have their entries dropped.   Please make league fees payable to “SCJFL.”

10:00-11:00 p.m. Debate Round II
11:30-12:30 p.m. Debate Round III 

12:30-1:00 p.m. Lunch

1:00-2:00 p.m. Debate Round IV

2:30-3:30 Debate Round V (Elimination-Prelim)

3:45-5:00 Debate Round VI (Elimination-Prelim)

5:30 pm Awards - Location to be determined.
