2021 SCJFL 4th Quarter Speech Only Tournament: 

 

 

Greetings!

On Saturday, April 10th, 2021 is the date for the 2021 SCJFL 4th Quarter Speech Only Tournament, and we hope that your school or organization will be joining us.

Entries:

We will close entries on Tuesday. April 6th, 2021 at noon, PST.  All fees will be frozen at that time.

 

Events:

—Storytelling (5 min.)
—SPAR (open and novice divisions, but may collapse divisions if entries warrant) 

—Informative (10 min., visual aids are permitted)
—Duo (10 min.)
—Poetry (7 min.; uses a binder)
— Extemp (30 min. prep / 7 min. speech) ***May not double-enter***

Topic areas:  Biden’s First 100 Days; Global Economy; South America; Middle East

—Dramatic Interp (10 min.)
—Speech to Entertain (5 min.)
—Program Oral Interp (10 min.)
—Impromptu (7 min. bank) 

Round 1 - concrete nouns

Students may enter up to two events, except for Extemp.  For a complete list of rules, please visit the SCJFL.org website and click on RULES & BY-LAWS.

 

 

 

 

Fees: 

$10 per individual entry (Duo is $20)

One judge covers 5 event slots

Judge fee: $20 per uncovered slot (see more explanation below)
All changes or drops after Tuesday. April 6th, 2021 at 12:05 p.m. PST will be charged a $10 nuisance fee for each change.  Judges changes after Wednesday, April 7th at 12:05 a.m. PST will be charged a $50 judge nuisance fee.  Judge drops after 12:01 a.m. on April 9th, 2021 will be charged a $100 judge no-show fee.  

All fees should be paid through the ForensicsTournament.net website.  Click the TOURNAMENT FEES tab on the left side of the tournament home page.

Judges who do not accept their assigned ballot will be charged a $20 no-show fee for the first offense.  The second offense will be $40.  Each subsequent no-show from the judge will warrant a $50 charge.

The tournament reserves the right to deny schools who do not supply at least half of their required judges.  We will do our best to ensure that no schools are denied because of this reason.

 

Judging Requirements: 

One judge covers 5 event slots.

Please remember that judge training is the responsibility of the school entering that judge.  While we will briefly recap some of the events, the majority of the training should be done by the school entering that judge.

9:00 – Round 1

10:30 – Round 2

12:00 – Round 3

2:00 –  Finals

4:00 – Awards
