2018 SCJFL 2nd Quarter Speech Only Tournament

Greetings!

On Friday, November 30, 2018 Walter Reed Middle School will be hosting the 2018 SCJFL 2nd Quarter Speech Only Tournament, and we hope that your school or organization will be joining us.

Location: 4525 Irvine Avenue North Hollywood, CA 91602

We will close entries on Tues. Nov 27th at noon, PST.

  Dramatic Interpretation (10 min)

  Original Oratory (10 min)

  Original Duo (10 min)

  Speech to Entertain (5 min)

  Poetry (7 min)

  Open Impromptu (7 min)

  Rookie Impromptu (7 min)


Impromptu Topics:

Round 1: Quotations

Round 2: Famous People (Rookie) and Current Events (Open)

Round 3: Abstract Nouns

Finals: Animals

Judging Requirements:

Each participating school or organization is being asked to supply 1 judge per 5 entries. Judging names should be submitted at the time of registration. If you need to register judges but don’t know their names yet, please use your school name with a number to indicate the judges you will be providing (i.e. Wilshire judge 1; Wilshire judge 2; etc.). $40 uncovered judge fee.

Fees:

$10 per individual entry (Duo is $20)

Please make checks payable to Walter Reed Middle School.

Changes or drops after Wednesday November 27, 2018 at 6pm will be charged a $10 nuisance fee.

Schedule:

3:15 - Judges meet for training in Cafeteria

3:30 – All schools meet outside the auditorium for announcements and postings

4:00 – Round 1

5:00 – Round 2

6:00 – Round 3

7:30 – Finals

9:00 – Awards in auditorium

Postings will be outside the auditorium.
