The 2018 SCJFL 1st Quarter Debate Tournament


Greetings!

On Saturday, October 27th, 2018 East Los Angeles College will be hosting the 2018 SCJFL 1st Quarter Debate Only Tournament, and we hope that your school or organization will be joining us.

We will close entries on Tues. Oct. 23rd at noon, PST.


Events:


Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Resolved: In the United States, reporters ought to have the right to protect the identity of confidential sources.


Policy Debate: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce its restrictions on legal immigration to the United States.


Public Forum Debate: Resolved: The United States should accede to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea without reservations.


Congress - Please submit bills to Robert@CannonballofDeath.com by Sept. 17th, 2018.


Big Questions: Resolved: Humans are primarily driven by self-interest.


Judging Requirements: 

Each participating school or organization is being asked to supply 1 judge per 2 entries. Judging names should be submitted at the time of registration. If you need to register judges but don’t know their names yet, please use your school name with a number to indicate the judges you will be providing (i.e. Wilshire judge 1; Wilshire judge 2; etc.). $50 uncovered judge fee. 


Fees: 

$10 per student

Please make checks payable to "East Los Angeles College". 

Changes or drops after Wednesday October 24, 2018 at 6pm will be charged a $10 nuisance fee.

11:00-1:00 p.m. Debate Round II 

1:00-2:00 p.m. Lunch 

2:00-4:00 p.m. Debate Round III 

4:30 pm Awards - Cafeteria.
