update 1/6/11 at 4:30 pm

Just a note to say that we are recording drops in the tournament software as they come in. I am not responding individually to each email as that slows the process down some, but rest assured they are being entered. We will have time for double-checks in the am.

Also, the registration/fee sheets will reflect data from forensicstournament and not necessarily the data emailed over the last 48 hours. Please mark the sheets as necessary and adjust fees for adds. But, realize that we have entered the data. The registration sheets will serve as a double-check.

Update 1/6/11

Hello, All

We are looking forward to the start of the Puget Sound tournament tomorrow morning. A few notes as you prepare to come to campus.

First, wireless access will be available across campus without the need of a username or password. Simply direct your wireless card to connect to "PS-guest access."

Second, we are hoping to reduce the need to copy, literally, thousands of maps and schedules that are quickly discarded or thrown away. We have placed links to the schedule and the campus map on the Puget Sound Forensics website. They can be found at: http://www.pugetsound.edu/academics/departments-and-programs/undergraduate/communication-studies/forensics/ (apologies for the horrible url). We will have a limited number of maps and schedules available to coaches at registration. We have also placed them as attachments on this webpage.

Third, we are also posting a document of "key information" and responsibilities for those attending the tournament. Please review this document and distribute the information to those attending with your school/institution. The document contains information on homesteading, noise, classroom furniture, judges, ballots, wireless access, diner hours, and details on maps and schedules.

See you tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Derek Buescher

Update 1/3/11 at 6:10 pm pst

Two items:

1. We are nearing our limit for rooms in pattern B. If this occurs we will create a wait list and ask schools above the initial caps in debate to place teams on the wait list. I apologize for this, but we believe it important to accept as many schools as possible first and then as many students as possible.

2. Congress will have two sessions. The third session will be a "supercongress."

Sincerely,

Derek Buescher

Dear Coaches,

In creating the entry system for Forensicstournament and setting division/event limits I did not fully consider the difficulty in creating a second squad via the web-entry system.

To remedy this, I have raised limits for debate and congress to 10. If you need more than this, please let me know. Entries over the limit indicated in the invite will incur the second squad fee, but we will manage that manually.

Laptops:

Puget Sound will allow the use of laptops per the rules of the Washington State Forensics Association in Extemp and Congress. Power is at the risk of the student and no internet access is allowed. Competitors accessing the internet during extemp preparation or Congress will be dropped from the event.

All the best,

Derek Buescher

Colleagues,

We are excited to offer the Puget Sound High School tournament January 7-8, 2011. We have made minimal changes to the tournament format from 2010 but do have three areas of particular import for registration purposes. First, we are honored to have a Tournament of Champions LD bid at the semi-final level. Second, we have restructured squad entry. Schools may enter multiple squads (initially 2 with the potential for a third upon approval). Third, we have modified the schedule in hopes of making a more enjoyable experience for all. Please review the invitation carefully. If you have questions, let me know at dbuescher (at) pugetsound.edu.

A few additional comments on entry--1) please check restrictions for double/triple entered students in IES. Novices may not triple enter. Students in extemp and dual may not triple enter.

2) Fees calculated here will not be accurate. They do not account for judging in this system or multiple squads.

Sincerely,

Derek Buescher
