<p> O&rsquo;Dowd Debate cordially requests your presence on April 23, 2011 at the Vendlinski Invitational at Bishop O&rsquo;Dowd High School in Oakland, California.<br /> <br /> The tournament will bring together 32 brilliant parliamentary debaters to compete in a novel format.&nbsp; <br /> <br /> Teams will be selected by lottery before each of the four preliminary rounds.&nbsp; Debaters from the same school will not be paired.&nbsp; For example, the first round could be Vastola (O&rsquo;Dowd) &amp; Mabie (James Logan) against Morris (Mira Loma) &amp; Wong (Granite Bay).&nbsp; <br /> <br /> The tournament will break to blind winner and loser brackets for the elimination rounds.&nbsp; Teams will be redrawn before each elimination round from debaters within the bracket.<br /> <br /> The winning team will receive large trophies.<br /> <br /> Resolutions will not be serious (except for one round) and may cover zombies, alien invasion, and lycanthropy.<br /> <br /> For many of the invitees, this tournament may mark their final rounds of high school parliamentary debate.&nbsp; This tournament offers the opportunity to work across the aisle and gain insight into what makes your opponents tick.<br /> <br /> &nbsp;</p>
