Welcome to the home page for the 2024 LSUS "Just Keep Swimming" Charity Debate (Team IPDA Format) tournament hosted by Louisiana State University Shreveport on May 18-19, 2024 for College students.
Status: Tournament Completed
Dear friends and colleagues,
On behalf of Louisiana State University Shreveport, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the LSUS Debate team, I invite you to the Fourth Annual LSUS Keep Swimming Virtual Charity debates. This event will be held on May 18th and 19th via Forensicstournament.net and Yaatly and hosted by Louisiana State University Shreveport.
This competition will be a unique experience and will be strictly for charity. We will feature at least five preliminary and the appropriate number of out rounds. This will model the TIPDA format but allow debaters who fall into the professional category of IPDA eligibility to participate. Teams do not have to be made up of participants from the same program; in fact, we are encouraging teams to be made up of members from around the country, past and present. The JKS Charity tournament will feature unique opportunities that will allow us to raise more money for a worthwhile cause while making the tournament more fun for its participants; details are in the invite below. This event will not be a sanctioned tournament. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime.
As many of you may know, one of our colleagues and dear friend, Megan Smith, had a severe health issue this year. So, with that in mind, this year's tournament will help raise funds that will go to help relieve the financial stress of the medical treatment.
Please note that this tournament is meant to be fun and not taken seriously. We hope that all participants will enjoy the camaraderie and collegiality while working towards raising funds to help our dear friend.
Sincerely,
