Dear Colleagues:
You are cordially
invited to attend the Hardin Invitational Speech/Debate/Drama Tournament to be
held Saturday, November 18th, 2018 at Hardin High School.
NOTE: There is also a
BC Tournament at Columbus and Glasgow on the 18th, so we anticipate
a smaller tournament. It is great to see a larger number of tournaments this
year.
Registration: All
registrations must be received by Friday,
November 9th, 2018 by 2:00PM. Registration will be handled with
ForensicsTournament.net. We are listed as the Hardin Invitational on the
tournament website. I will open registration on Monday, October 29th. Registration will close on Friday,
November 9th. Drops will be closed on Wednesday, November 14th at
4:00PM. Changes in registration after the deadlines will need to be made by
calling or emailing Mitch Evans. Registration
will take place at the main office of the high school 721 Miles Ave. from
7:00AM – 7:30AM. You may access the high
school from the main entrance on Miles Ave. or the rear entrance on North Terry
Ave.
Registration Limits: All teams are limited to no more than three
(3) entries in any one event. NOTE: Maximum
registration numbers may be in place for some events due to available space and
judges.
Entry Fees: Entry fees will be $5.00
per student/per event. This fee may be paid the day of the meet or mailed to
the high school.
Judges: We always welcome judges. If you would like to bring along
a judge or two that is okay with us. Just let us know their name and events
ahead of time and we will get them scheduled. Judges arriving the day of the
meet will be placed in the judge’s pool.
Drop/Adds: Please call in or email with drops as soon as changes
are known. The deadline for drops is Wednesday, November 14th. All
drops after that date will be assessed a $5.00 penalty plus forfeiture of the
registration fee. Please call drops while you are on the bus to Mitch Evans at
(406) 679-3242 to avoid problems and save time at registration.
Event Rules: All events will be conducted according to the rules in
the 2018 – 2019 MHSA Handbook. Dual entries will be allowed. The MHSA handbook
rules will be enforced. All MHSA sanctioned Class A events will be offered.

use the Sept./Oct. topic.
Public Forum
Topic – (Topic
change is November 25th) Public Forum topic: Resolved: The United
States should accede to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea
without reservations.

The United States federal government should substantially reduce its
restrictions on legal immigration to the United States.

Awards: The Awards Ceremony will be held in the Hardin Middle
School Auditorium @ 5:00 pm or as soon as the final results have been
tabulated. Medals will be given for 1st Place finishers. Team
Trophies will be given for Class A, Class B, & Class C for 1st
and 2nd place in Speech & Drama.
Location: All events will be held in the high school and middle
school buildings.
Lunch/Concessions: A full concessions will be offered. There will
be a lunch option for the students. It will be $6.00 and will include a
beverage. Please email me with a lunch count if you will be purchasing lunch
tickets for your students. Lunch will be provided for coaches and bus drivers.
Reminders: Coaches are expected to
monitor their students. Students will not be allowed in the classrooms until a
coach or judge is present. Due to the design of the building, we have several
competition rooms adjacent to our student commons. We want to make certain that
this area is kept clear and quiet during rounds. Students will be able to
gather in the commons or high school cafeteria between rounds. Lunch and
concessions will be in the middle school cafeteria. This is located just down
the hall from the high school cafeteria. Coaches will gather in the high school
library and library Annex. Bus drivers
may utilize the faculty lounge and/or the judge’s lounge in the Home Ec.
Classroom.
Parking: Bus parking is allowed in the lots across from the high
school on Terry Ave. or the Bus lanes in front of the high school on Miles Ave.
