Please scroll down and read all the areas below, to help us all have a successful tournament.

Food:  We will be selling Pizza's, snacks, water and soda throughout the tournament.  Coaches you can order pizza's for your team.  Please order Pizza's for your students by Thursday, Nov. 7th:  contact Michael McHan with your order:  michael.mchan@gcccd.edu

Parking:  There are no fees.  Use parking lot 7 or the parking structure Building #56.  Please do not park in any spot marked "staff".

Central Strike Room for IPDA on Sunday will be building 100-120A (updated Sat evening)

Impromptu Topics for Judges:  Pick up at Griffin Gate

Impromptu's will be 3 quotations for rounds 1 & 2 and fortune cookies for final rounds.

Judges Room:  Griffin Gate.  Please come to the Griffin Gate after each round.  We will have snacks, lunch each day and a large room to relax and talk to others.

New Judges:  Please report to the Griffin Gate before each of your rounds.  We will have training sessions each morning.  When you recieve your ballot, we will have people who can assist you with the event prior to going to your round.

Procedural Changes to NPDA(Parli):  Please read the rationale in the invitation.  There are more specifics in the invitation.

Please be open and postive to these changes, but also aware that they will be challenging to many.

Coaching:  No coaching allowed for Parli Debate  (IPDA still will allow coaching)

Topic Striking:  Competitors and Judges go to your designated room immediately.  The Judge will have 5 resolutions on their ballot.  As soon as competitors have selected their resolution the 20 minute prep time should begin. 

Flex Time:  Do not use flex time.  Use Points of Information during the speeches.  First minute and last minute should be protected time, to not use a POI.  The opposing side is allowed to interupt the speaker, and ask one question and the speaker has the right to answer or say, "not at this time".

Laptops:  No laptops for flowing, or anything else in debate rounds, this is for all debates.  Judges can flow rounds and type their ballots on their laptops in all debates.

Schedule change for IPDA: 

 IPDA will be double-flighted due to the large entries.  We are starting an hour earlier and ending later than originally scheduled.  Please check the new schedule on the Invite.  We will also be using a central strike area for IPDA.  Coaching is allowed for IPDA.  No laptops.
