TOURNAMENT
Custer County District High
School cordially invites you to compete at the Speech, Drama and Debate
Divisional meet on Friday and Saturday, January 24th and 25th,
2020.
REGISTRATION:
An entry fee of $5.00 will be
charged for each participant. Registration will be through the Forensic
Tournament website at: www.forensicstournament.net
ending Friday, January 17th
at 4 PM. Check in will be at Custer
County District High School Business Office between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM.
*Please email an approximate
count for lunch numbers for both days (for those desiring to purchase a lunch
through the concessions) to Heather Schmitz hschmitz@milescity.k12.mt.us
by January 15th so our concessionaire can get supplies ordered in
time. See FOOD: below for more
information.
Each school may enter up to three
entries in each event. A drop fee of $5.00 will be assessed for each contestant
dropped after 4 PM on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020. If you have
drops, please make sure to update your info at the Forensic Tournament,
call or text Heather Schmitz’ cell at (406) 853-0055, or email them to her at hschmitz@milescity.k12.mt.us
as soon as possible.
MHSA Rules:
All events will be conducted according to the rules in the 2019-2020 MHSA
handbook. ALL contestants will follow class A rules. Also, coaches are
encouraged to watch rounds and may be asked to judge. Please familiarize your
contestants with the timing procedures and be sure that each contestant has a digital
kitchen timer. Time will be counting up.

States ought to eliminate their nuclear arsenals.
Policy Resolution (2019-20 topic):
The United States federal government should
substantially reduce Direct Commercial Sales and/or Foreign Military Sales of
arms from the United States.
The January Extemp. topics will
be used.
FOOD:
Concessions and lunch will be
available for students at the High School.
Concessions will be available until 2:00 or so. Lunch will be served from 11:00 to 1:30 in
the Gym Lobby. School purchase orders
will be accepted, and tickets provided at registration. Please include the number of students who
wish to buy their own lunches with your registration. The menu will probably include hamburgers and
hotdogs plus the usual fixings. The last
day to change purchased lunch numbers will be January 17th. Lunch will be provided for judges, bus
drivers, and coaches in room 6 (the home economics room).
COMPETITION SITE:
All events will be held at CCDHS.
The gym lobby and the upper mezzanine in
the gym will be used for the commons area for contestants. Contestants should be there when not in
rounds. Remember contestants may not be
in competition rooms unless a judge or coach is present. At the end of the tournament, please ask your
team members to pick up their area. The
awards assembly will be as soon as possible following finals and will be in the
auditorium (4ish?).
COMPETITION:
There will be four preliminary
rounds, a semis (if we can find enough judges) and finals in all events with
more than 12 competitors. The schedule for the meet is:

Policy Debate will be round robin for three rounds. Final placement will be determined by
win/loss record and points.
Extemp Draw will be in Room 401.

Awards will be the awards that MHSA provides.
