Dear Colleagues,

The Palomar College Forensics Team is proud to invite you to the 21st Annual Ray Dahlin Invitational, an Individual Events and IPDA open-division tournament hosted at Grossmont College. Join us for a full day of spirited competition, collaboration, and community as we continue one of the region’s most beloved fall traditions.

Tournament Highlights

• Two preliminary rounds in all Individual Events, breaking to final rounds in the early evening.

• Four rounds of IPDA debate followed by two elimination rounds, running concurrently with Individual Events.

  • IPDA will be double-flighted to accommodate all entries efficiently.

  • Group prep is allowed.

  • Each school will be assigned a designated prep room prior to the start of the tournament.

• Swing opportunity with the Griffin Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at the same location.

• Hospitality:

  • Complimentary food and refreshments for judges throughout the day.

  • Pizza lunch for students during the lunch hour.

• Awards:

  • Sweepstakes trophies for the top three 2-year and 4-year institutions.

  • The “Patrick Mills” Limited Prep Speaker Award for the top Short Prep competitor.

  • The Top IPDA Speaker Award for the highest-ranked IPDA debater.

• Note: No novice division will be offered this year.

Parking & Venue Information

• Free Parking: Please use Lot 7 or the parking structure.
  Do not park in spaces labeled “Staff.”

• Campus Map: Grossmont College Map & Directions

• Judges’ Room: Griffin Gate

  • Stop by between rounds to relax, grab refreshments, and connect with colleagues.

  • New Judge Orientation will be held in Griffin Gate before each round.

  • Impromptu Topics for judges can also be picked up here.
