The China&nbsp;</p> <p> Open is IDEA&rsquo;s (International Debate Education Association) premier international&nbsp;</p> <p> competition in China, aiming at contributing to thriving debate communities in China and&nbsp;</p> <p> encouraging interactions among debaters. Colleges and universities from every part of China&nbsp;</p> <p> and from outside China are invited and encouraged to join the event.</p> <p> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p> <p> The first two China Debate Opens were successfully held in Xi&rsquo;an (2010) and Qinhuangdao&nbsp;</p> <p> (2011). This year&rsquo;s China Open will move to Shanghai and will be hosted by Shanghai&nbsp;</p> <p> University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). The China Open will feature a diverse group of&nbsp;</p> <p> trainers, competitors and judges.</p> <p> The tournament offers British Parliamentary Debate (BP Debate) as well as Moot Court.</p> <p> British Parliamentary debates will be divided into Mandarin and English divisions. Moot Court</p> <p> will be conducted in English. IDEA and SUFE are committed to establishing the China Open&nbsp;</p> <p> 2012 as one of China&rsquo;s best debate events, one that is rewarding for all involved.&nbsp;</p> <p> Although with a relatively young history, British Parliamentary debate has been spreading fast&nbsp;</p> <p> across mainland Chinese universities in recent years. We are honored to host this year&#39;s&nbsp;</p> <p> competition to get Chinese debaters further engaged in BP debate, and to provide a platform,&nbsp;</p> <p> on which every debater, judge, and educator can have intellectual discussion, intercultural&nbsp;</p> <p> exchange as well as mutual understanding. &nbsp;</p> <p> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p> <p> We have been working hard to make it a most enjoyable China Open for all participants.&nbsp;</p> <p> 1. Team Cap: 200 teams (All three divisions).</p> <p> 2. As usual, no registration fee is charged, but expenses of lodging and accommodations are&nbsp;</p> <p> borne by participants themselves.</p> <p> 3. Tournament Dates: &nbsp; May 25 &ndash; 27, 2012.</p> <p> 4. Registration Time：from 9am &nbsp;to 12:00 noon of May 25</p> <p> 5. All tournament debates are held in the main SUFE campus on the Guoding Road.&nbsp;</p> <p> 6. Prices for a standard hotel room range&nbsp;</p> <p> from 200 to 300 RMB per day.</p> <p> 7. Shanghai is a paradise for sightseeing and shopping.
