<p>IE NOTES:</p> <p>&gt;&gt;Extempers may use the internet during prep time - however: OCC cannot provide internet access to the competitors but if the students can get it on their own then they can use it.</p> <p>&gt;&gt;Triple entry at your own risk. No triple-entry with extemp or duo. Novices may not double-enter.</p> <p><br /> &gt;&gt;Students from the host schools may compete both days, but will not be in the running for a team award the day their school is hosting.</p> <p><br /> &gt;&gt;Saturday we will offer novice divisions in novice platform, novice interp, and novice impromptu given that the event has at least 6 novices entered from 2 different schools; if not, novice will be collapsed into open division and a top novice award will be offered if there are novice entries from at least 2 schools.</p> <p><br /> &gt;&gt;AFA event descriptions will apply. We will use AFA style for impromptu.</p> <p>DEBATE NOTES:</p> <p>&gt;&gt;Parliamentary Debate will be run in accordance with Phi Rho Pi rules. We will use topic strikes with 15 minutes of preparation time. There will be no coaching during preparation time and students may only consult their partner, a dictionary and/or almanac during prep time. Brackets will be broken in Open division. All judge assignment will be at random. We will not offer elimination rounds in novice in lieu of everyone in novice debating a fifth and sixth preliminary round. Awards will be based off preliminary rankings.</p> <p><br /> &gt;&gt;This year elimination rounds will be in the Phi Rho Pi bronze/gold format. We will break an appropriate number of teams based on entry size (not to exceed half).</p> <p><br /> &gt;&gt;No debate prep rooms will be made available. The government team may prepare in their competition room.</p> <p><br /> &gt;&gt;Standard PSCFA definitions for novice debate eligibility will be used.</p> <p><br /> &gt;&gt;Novice NFA-LD will use the restricted PSCFA Novice LD topic: Resolved: The United States Federal Government should substantially reform elementary and/or secondary education in the United States in one or more areas: student evaluations, teacher evaluations, or Core Standards.</p>
