Pre-Tournament Announcement:

Welcome to the 14th annual Eddy Shell Invitational. We’re a bit smaller this year but are thankful for the opportunity to be able to host all of you in person again.  For all divisions, we will offer a partial elimination round if any with a winning record (4-3 or better in individual debate, 3-1 or better in team debate) would not have broken.

Registration and the ballot table will be in our traditional location (Building F first floor, near the doors that open to the center of campus).

If you have any ADA accommodation requests, please send those directly to me ASAP so that we may best accommodate.

We do have a few Covid mitigation efforts in place:

·        Masking is required in all indoor spaces (including during competition rounds)

·        We will be assigning prep spaces in an attempt to space programs out more than in previous years

·        Postings will all be made available on ForensicsTournament.net so that crowding around physical postings will not be necessary

·        During topic draw, we ask for your assistance in encouraging your competitors to space out while awaiting their topics and once receiving their topic moving away from the immediate area where topics are being distributed

·        We will offer a contactless ballot experience in addition to traditional ballots.  We ask for your assistance in setting your judge preferences in FTN to “paper” or “email” based on whether you would prefer a traditional printed ballot or an electronic ballot.  Of course, for any judges utilizing the electronic ballots please remind them to use the same ethical standards that have been employed during the numerous online competitions of the past two years (ex: using their computer only to complete the ballot and not looking up information anytime during the debate and/or decision-making process).

·        During the awards ceremony on Sunday, rather than a traditional awards ceremony crowded into an auditorium – we will have a virtual awards ceremony and encourage teams to watch from their prep spaces.  We will then deliver the trophies to each team’s prep space after the awards ceremony.  The link for the awards ceremony is: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_OTBjYTAzZDMtNGYxMS00YmZjLWEwYjUtYWY2ODg1YjQ1OGE2%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22dfd71809-f307-4b9e-ae3d-42c34c456548%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22e95943d0-8f46-4bf3-9908-fe036a33a60d%22%7d

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all this weekend.
