Dear Colleagues:


The Owensboro Community and Technical College Forensics Team and the Transylvania Debate Union is proud to invite your squad to attend  the 25th annual “BBQ Capital of the World-WYRD” Speech and Debate Tournament on November 1-2, 2019 in Owensboro, Kentucky.

 

Entry Deadline is Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 by 6:00 p.m. CST.

This year, the tournament will feature NPDA and IPDA debate with prelims and out rounds and the sanctioned AFA events and four limited prep events.

 

There are a number of big reasons to plan now to attend the “Q-W” this fall at OCTC including:

 ¨      Pentad awards for the top 10 competitors entered in at least 5 events (duo counts once)

¨      Sweepstakes awards for the top 5 performing four-year schools in attendance.

¨      Sweepstakes awards for the top 5 performing Debate Schools in attendance.

¨      Sweepstakes awards for the top 3 performing community colleges in attendance.

¨      A delicious & inexpensive lunch featuring America’s Best Barbecue 2015 Food Network Winner (Old Hickory).

¨      Dr. Tim Bill will run tab and keep the tournament running on time and on schedule.

¨      Top novice awards for all IE events.

¨      Non-AFA events: Radio Broadcasting , Impromptu Counseling (we created it!!), Impromptu Eulogy, and Impromptu Storytelling (the latter two invented by Transy).

¨      Two one-day IE tournaments (1 Friday/ 1 Saturday).

¨      The Robert Anderson Memorial Traveling Trophy will be awarded for Team success over the years

¨      4 Rounds of NPDA and IPDA debate plus appropriate elims and awards.

¨      Top 10 Open and Novice speaker awards in debate (both IPDA and NPDA).

¨      Tournament will be sanctioned by IPDA, NFA, AFA, and NPDA.
