The Argumentation and Communication Leadership Academy is pleased to announce our winter event:

The 2017 ACLA Respect Communication Arts Invitational. The theme of this tournament is Respect. Students will have the opportunity to explore Respect in multiple speech and debate events. At this tournament, we hope that students will explore how they can create spaces where everyone can be respected.

This tournament will have events for 4 age groups:

K-3rd Little Orators (Please see below)

3rd – 5th Grades: Elementary

6th – 8th Grades: Middle School

9th – 12th Grades: High School

To speed up the registration process, the Respect Invitational will not be accepting payment the day of the tournament. Payment for this tournament is due on or before December 4. If payment is not received by December 4, all entries for that school will be dropped. Payments can be made via Google Wallet to InstructorWillWash@gmail.com or by mail. Checks can be made payable to “ACLA” and mailed to:

The school fee for this tournament is $65.  

Pattern A is $40 for public forum debate and $15 per competitor for Congress. 

Pattern B is $15 per competitor, per event.

Per student fee. There will be a $1 per student fee to allow the tournament to purchase snacks and lunches for the judges.

Registration will open November 10 and close December 4 at 5 PM. Fees will be frozen on December 4. All changes required after December 4 will need to be emailed directly to the tournament director

(wwashington@aclacademy.org). Students can be added after December 5 for an increased price ($20 per event). If a drop is needed after December 5, a $15 penalty per drop will be assessed to the school due the day of the tournament.   

This tournament will be held at CSU Fullerton. 

***********************Update********************* We will not have finals for pattern B. This tournament will feature 4 rounds of pattern A and 3 rounds of Pattern B
